non-GMO & organic
Truth be told: there is no evidence that organic or non-GMO foods are necessarily healthier for you.
Organic foods are grown without artificial chemicals like synthetic pesticides. The soil has not been tainted with unnatural substances or has had a chance to heal. Organic foods are always non-GMO.
Non-GMO stands for an organism that is not genetically modified. GMO foods are altered in a laboratory through genetic engineering. While farmers have cross-bred plants traditionally, GMO foods are genetically altered in an untraditional manner.
Whether to eat organic or non-GMO foods is, clearly, a choice. A clumsy way to describe organic or non-GMO foods is all-natural, but that word does not have a real definition. Without a clear limit to what is or is not all-natural, some companies can be disengenous in their claims by selling foods as natural that actually have been scientifically altered in ways that may be considered unnatural.
Proponents of non-GMO and organic foods may claim that these foods taste better. They’re in the original condition as nature provided.
Another concern is that genetically modified foods may have consequences that are as of yet unknown.
Some chemicals and pesticides associated with some foods that are not organic may actually be known to be harmful.
The oats we use in our Oat Milk are, in fact, gluten-free and organic oats.
While the pecans we source from New Communities do have pesticides on the shells and trees, we trust our farmers. We also take solace in the fact that there are no genetically modified pecans!
